Come on in guys! Sherea voted out at the last Tribal Council, becoming the 6th member of the jury.
Immunity is back up for grabs.
Today you'll be playing our version of a classic board game...
Risk!
But instead of battling for global domination, you'll be battling to take over Sausage Island.
We've created a map of the island, separated into 5 territories, each one represented by a different color. The goal of the challenge is to conquer every single space on the board. Here's how it works:
First, we'll generate 5 spaces for each of you. There are 25 spaces on the board, you each get five spaces to start. After that, each of you receives 3 reinforcement troops. Your first order of business is to post on which space(s) you wish to place your 3 troops. It must be one of the five spaces that you own. You can place them all on one space, or spread them out, your call.
Once that's done, we get into attacking.
Attacking
You may only attack spaces that are adjacent to one of your spaces. There are lines designating which other space you can attack if you're on an island. See that black figure in the center of the map? That's The Grinder's Gorge. You can't attack through that. Any other spaces that are touching is fair game.
You MUST have more than 1 troop on a space in order to attack with that space. If you own space 16, and want to attack space 15, you can only do that if you have at least 2 troops on space 16 at the time of attacking. The reason for this is...if you successfully take that space over, you need to occupy it with a troop. If you only have one troop, you can't occupy that space since you'd be abandoning your previous space.
Now, here's how attacking works. Every 5 minutes, you guys will send either myself or Brett on AIM or via PM an attack order. It will be something like "Attack space [__] from space [__]. The space that you are attacking FROM obviously must be a space that you own, and again it must have more than one troop on it.
There are designated times when you're allowed to send an attack order to us. Anything from :00 to :05, then there's a 5 minute wait period as we update the board, and it continues like so:
:00 - :05
:10 - :15
:20 - :25
:30 - :35
:40 - :45
:50 - :55
- All attack periods, any hour.
So every hour, you can get six attacks in. Be sure to IM/PM us your specific order between those time periods or else you won't have an attack for that round.
If you attack a space, but the player who owns that space also attacks you from it, then it's a stalemate and neither of you take over the other. If you attack a space and that space doesn't attack you as well, then the amount of troops on that space is lowered by 1. If it's already at 1, then that space is now yours and we'll move your troops onto it. All of your troops will move to it accept for 1.
Note: If you have reinforcements on one of your spaces, and wish to move them onto another space, you can do that instead of attacking. You can move as many troops as you want, but there MUST be a direct line of spaces that you own from the space you're moving from, to the space you're moving to.
Reinforcements:
- At the top of every hour, we'll have a reinforcement period. Everyone automatically receives 3 troops at the top of the hour. We'll place these troops on whichever space you own that you wish. If you don't designate one, we'll random it.
- There are 5 different colored territories. If you own every space within a territory at the end of the hour, you get a bonus. Again, these troops will be placed where you want. Random'd if you don't specify.
Brown: 2 additional troops
Pink: 2 additional troops
Green: 3 additional troops
Purple: 3 additional troops
Blue: 4 additional troops
- Because of this system, it's smart to try to control an entire territory, and also smart to attack one space within an enemies controlled territory in order to disrupt their reinforcement income.
Play will continue like this as you build up reinforcements and as players are eliminated.
If you're completely wiped off of the map, then you're eliminated from the battle. The last player standing OR the player with the most owned territories after 24 hours will win Immunity.
I realize this might be complicated, especially if you haven't played risk, but feel free to IM myself or Brett if you have any questions. If you guys want we can all join an AIM chat where I can answer any questions you might have. Once you get the hang of it, it should be pretty easy.
THIS CHALLENGE WILL START AT 10:00. The map will be posted shortly with your randomly generated spots. We'll give you until 9:50 to read the rules and to tell us where you want your first three reinforcements. Then we'll post the reinforcements, and then you may send your attacks to us at the 10:00 - 10:05 window.
Alliances are important in this challenge, but they can't last forever. At some point or another you'll all be attacking each other. Only one can win. Who will take total control of Sausage Island? Time to find out...
Survivors ready? GO!
